Festive design unveiled for Santa Barbara's "SB Shines Window Walk"
AB design studio Interior Designer, Maritza Best, shines in 2nd annual Santa Barbara Shines Window Walk.
On Thursday, December 5th, Maritza Best of AB design studio proudly unveiled the design for her 2019 Santa Barbara Shines Window Walk. Presented by LUXE Interiors + Design and Cearnal Collective Architecture + Interiors, the Santa Barbara Shines Window Walk is a luxury design and community building event celebrating the holidays in conjunction with Downtown Santa Barbara's Annual Holiday Parade and extending into Montecito. Vacant and active storefronts were transformed into one-of-a-kind window designs through a collaboration with local designers and vendors, bringing visibility to businesses, as well as professionals and the community together. This year, a portion of the sponsorship proceeds were donated to Heal the Ocean and the Bucket Brigade.
Keeping in the theme of this year's annual parade, "A Tropical Holiday Affair," our interior designer extraordinaire aimed to create a bold and unique experience. As Maritza explains, "We wanted to create a unique, hospitality themed window. The goal was to create the experience of having just checked-in to your room at a posh, boutique hotel and you're ready to #SleighVacay."
Over the course of four days, Maritza and her team transformed the once empty window into a fabulously inviting scene. This transformation would not have been possible without the generosity of her vendor partners: Arte for Koroseal donated their stunning Menagerie of Extinct Animals wall covering from the Moooi Wallcovering Extinct Animals collection, Shaw Contract provided their gorgeous Natural Choreography luxury vinyl tile used for the flooring and wainscot and Sirena provided the red hot Copacabana one piece swimsuit, trendy black straw hat and adorable wicker purse. Maritza sourced the amazing leather strap rattan chair and ottoman, end table and pendant light used in the window display from local home goods, furniture and design store Millworks, conveniently located right next door to our Santa Barbara studio on Haley St. The super cool Modern Christmas Tree completely sets the holiday scene and the Terminal 1 Carry-On from Mark & Graham was the perfect final touch.
In addition to unveiling our own window, we were thrilled to be able to participate in the evening's opening event cocktail party. Hosted by The Shade Store, the event was packed with the who's who of local designers and we were so thankful to reconnect with so many familiar faces as well as meet many new. From there, we took to the streets to take in each of this year's participating windows. These designers did not disappoint!
The window displays will all be up until the beginning of January so, if you missed the opening event, don't worry! There is still plenty of time. AB design studio was proud to be part of this event and we look forward to joining this great community of design professionals next year.
