The 3,350-square-foot building, located on the school’s historic lower campus, brings together digital design labs, indoor and outdoor studio workspaces, and integrated exhibition areas into one centralized space. Designed to reflect the collaborative, industry-relevant environments found in creative firms and colleges, the new building aims to empower students to pursue professional futures in visual arts and design. This expansion also signals a revitalization of the campus itself, as Santa Barbara High celebrates its 100th anniversary.

VADA’s mission to blend rigorous academics with career-focused art instruction is further elevated by the creative partnerships that support it—among them, AB Design Studio. As a longtime advocate for Santa Barbara’s creative community, AB Design Studio has partnered with VADA to nurture the next generation of artists and designers. Through direct mentorship, studio tours, and hands-on learning opportunities, AB’s team is committed to giving students insight into the professional world of architecture and design. This collaboration not only enhances VADA’s curriculum but reinforces a shared belief in the power of creativity to shape brighter futures.
