Hotel Indigo adds artsy boutique charm to Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara’s Indigo Hotel, designed by AB Design Studio Inc., was just written about in the Examiner yesterday. In her article Melissa McArdle brings attention to the “Stylish rooftop lounges” overlooking Santa Barbara and the “hip art library nooks”. Not only does McArdle point out the beautiful location of this new hotel she also mentions the guestroom’s natural light and private gardens.

Clay Aurell’s goal for this project was to turn a rundown old hotel in to Santa Barbara’s first “hip” and “chic” hotel. They worked with the existing brick building to create a design that referenced the past but looked forward to the future. They were able to maximize the room counts and redesign the rooms to all have an en-suite bathroom. AB Design Studio Inc., in conjunction with Level3, was able to create the modern style hotel that everyone needed.

i recently had the chance to stay at this hotel that we designed. it was great! the staff was amazing and the room was perfect. a very interesting solution to an otherwise challenging problem. the lounge spaces are very cool as well.
